Install
The phone first, then the tablet. At the end the tablet and the phone show the same device code and the family's board appears on the tablet.
1. The family app on the phone
- Android: open app.mygrands.app in Chrome, then choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen" in its menu.
- iPhone: open app.mygrands.app in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open the app from there. Only then does the iPhone get notifications and keep the family.
In the app tap New family and type the family's name, your name, the name of the person the tablet is for and how the tablet addresses them, then choose the tablet's language. After a short check that you are not a robot, create the family. You invite the others in Settings, under Family members → Invite to the family: a link lasts 7 days and works once.
2. The tablet
Grandsapp for the tablet is not available to download yet. For a tablet, write to us at support@mygrands.app.
3. Pairing
In the family app: Settings → Tablet → Add a tablet → Pair with a code. Type the six digits from the tablet, tap Pair and confirm. In a moment the tablet shows the family's board.
The phone then shows a code of sixteen characters to compare with the tablet, which showed the same Device code. If they differ, remove the tablet and pair it again. A pairing code lasts 10 minutes and works once; replace an expired one with New code on the tablet.
Whoever manages the family can pair.
Tips
- Keep the tablet plugged in. On battery, with the screen off, Android cuts its internet after about half an hour.
- To read aloud, the tablet needs a voice for its language, downloaded onto the tablet: Settings → Language & input → Text-to-speech output → Google, then install the voice. The family app says under Settings → Tablet when it is missing.
- Keep automatic date and time on.
